The Offshore Technology Conference was founded in 1969 by 12 engineering and scientific organizations. The exhibition is intended to share technical knowledge relevant to the development of offshore energy resources, primarily in oil and gas.
It is held annually in Houston, Texas. The first conference was held in Houston’s Albert Thomas Convention Center, and as the significance and attendance of the conference grew, larger facilities at Houston’s NRG Park were needed.
In 2013, OTC reached a new record of more than 2,700 exhibiting companies, totaling an exhibit area equivalent to 10 U.S. football fields. In 2014, OTC reached a new record for the size of the exhibit space, totaling 680,025 sq ft and a record high of 108,300 attendees!
OTC consistently ranks among the largest 100 tradeshows held annually in the United States and is among the 10 largest meetings in terms of attendance.
Shea Writing and Training Solutions was founded in 1997 and has been exhibiting and sharing industry knowledge at OTC for 22 years. Our first appearance in 1999 was a whirlwind of excitement and lessons learned. As the years passed and the show grew exponentially in attendance, we passed out countless 4-color ‘Shea’ pens, assembled dozens of K’nex toys (If you have ever been to our booth, you know what I am talking about.), collected an abundance of swag, and educated thousands of attendees on the importance of quality technical writing.
With 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, we have written more than 10,000 documents that have shaped company and industry standards, saved millions of dollars in start-up costs and down-time, saved operators’ lives, transferred knowledge to the next generation of workers, and avoided thousands of dollars in fines. We are eager to continue to share our lessons learned, best practices, services, and expertise with the offshore industry, including the growing offshore wind industry, this year at OTC.
OTC 2021 is August 16-19, 2021 at NRG Park in Houston, TX and we are going to be there! You can find us, in-person, in Booth #1106.
We are COVID conscious and will be following OTC 2021 Safety Guidelines. In addition, our brochures will be available contact-free through a scannable QR Code. Our new Menu of Services will be exclusively offered during OTC 2021. We also have a limited quantity of K’nex Windmill building sets for visitors that stop by our booth and answer a few questions. We look forward to seeing you and being seen at OTC 2021.

UPDATE: During OTC 2021, we made a big splash! The Houston Chronicle printed a picture of our booth on the front page with an article about how the oil and gas industry’s big show making room for renewables! I think they liked our Wind Turbines.
