We will once again be attending this year’s Offshore Technology Conference! Stop by Booth #3312 to say hi to Evalyn Shea and Daryl Brister during #OTC2022. This year the OTC is happening from May 2 to May 5 at NRG Park in Houston, Texas.
Last year we had an great time and made a big splash! The Houston Chronicle featured our booth on the front page (i.e., section A1) with an article about how the oil and gas industry is making room for #renewables. We think they were drawn to the #WindTurbines we gave out to visitors – and our excellence in technical writing probably caught their attention too!
This Year, We’ll Be Celebrating our 25th Anniversary!
Shea Writing and Training Solutions was officially established in February 1997, but Evalyn celebrates the anniversary in April since that was when she was first able to issue a paycheck!
Over the last 25 years, Evalyn has laid a solid foundation for Shea, enabling it to earn its place as a leading provider of technical writing support. Following her vision of focusing on running the company and leaving the writing to the experts, Shea continues to embrace an atmosphere that promotes respect and learning. These core values – and an assembly of talented writers – surely account for Shea’s lasting presence over the past quarter of a century.
Shea’s 23rd Year at OTC
We’ve been sharing our industry knowledge at OTC for 23 years! Our first appearance, in 1999, was a whirlwind – full of excitement and lessons learned. Over the years, we’ve passed out countless four-color Shea-branded pens, assembled dozens of K’nex toys, collected swag, met thousands of wonderful people, and educated visitors on the importance and necessity of quality technical writing.
Over the past 25 years (and in our 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry), we have written over 10,000 documents that have shaped company and industry standards, saved millions of dollars in start-up costs, reduced downtime, improved safety, saved operators’ lives, transferred knowledge to the next generation of workers, and helped businesses avoid thousands of dollars in fines. We look forward to continuing to share our lessons learned, best practices, services, and expertise with the offshore industry, including the growing offshore wind industry, at OTC 2022.
What is the Offshore Technology Conference?

The Offshore Technology Conference takes place annually in Houston, Texas, with the purpose of sharing technical knowledge relevant to the development of offshore energy resources, primarily in oil and gas
OTC was founded in 1969 by 12 engineering and scientific organizations. Its significance and attendance grew quickly, and in 1973 OTC moved from its first home at a downtown Houston convention center, to the Astrodome and its current home in what is now NRG Park, to be sure of enough space to host its audience of energy professionals.
In 2013, OTC hosted 2,700 exhibiting companies – a new record – for a total exhibit area equivalent to 10 U.S. football fields. In 2014, OTC reached a new record for the size of the exhibit space, totaling 680,025 square feet and a record high of 108,300 attendees!
OTC consistently ranks among the largest 100 trade shows held annually in the country, and is among the 10 largest meetings in terms of attendance.
